Initiate Appointments
Initiating appointments with Dr. Grigg requires all referrals from your GP or other Specialists to be forwarded to his office. Dr. Grigg personally reviews the referrals and then his staff will contact you with an appointment depending on the priority. You can forward the referral either by email reception@darlingdownsent.com.au or fax (07) 4632 4108.
When to Arrive for your Appointment
Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow for patient check-in by our staff.
What to Bring for your Appointment
- Medicare card and Private Health Fund membership card;
- Any X-rays / CT scans / MRI imaging you have had regarding this problem;
- Completed “New Patient Information” (if unable to return it prior – in this case please come 20 minutes earlier to your appointment time)
What to Expect at your Consultation
Dr Grigg will complete a full medical history and ear, nose and throat examination with regard to your concerns. He will discuss the findings of the consultation with you and make recommendations as to how to address your concerns. Further need for appointments, investigations, medications or surgery will be explained to you.
Where surgery is recommended, Dr. Grigg will discuss the procedure with you as well as the risks and likely benefits. He and his nurse will guide you through a consent process and answer any questions you may have. During this period Dr. Grigg’s staff will prepare a theater pack with information relevant to the hospital you will have your procedure at. If your condition requires this management please expect to be here for approximately 30-45 minutes.
There is no requirement to fast prior to your consultation with Dr. Grigg.
Fees and Charges
Payment for the consultation are required on the day. You may pay the fee via EFTPOS, credit card or cash. In most cases, upon payment, we can electronically submit a rebate claim on your behalf to Medicare.
Dr. Grigg charges from the AMA (Australian Medical Association) schedule fee for the consultation and then any in-room procedures that are performed at consultation will be charged at the Medicare rebate.
Surgical fees are charged from the AMA schedule fee, however, Dr. Grigg participates in the Known Gap with most health funds which reduces patient out of pockets to approximately $500 maximum. (Please note: This is not the case for patients not insured or have basic health cover or waiting periods)
After the Consultation
Dr Grigg will provide you with instructions as to how best to address your particular concern. He will liaise with your referring doctor and any other relevant parties at your instruction.
Should you have further questions arise after your consultation, please call (07) 4632 3179 to make an additional appointment or, alternatively, email rgrigg@darlingdownsent.com.au. Simple questions may be answered via email but if a discussion is necessary for the opinion of Dr. Grigg, then he will request you make an appointment to discuss the matter further.
Should you wish to have a second opinion regarding any aspects of your care then please inform Dr. Grigg and he will make available, with your permission, any records necessary and suggest an alternate Doctor.
